Want to be involved in making a difference?
HOME CHECK CO-ORDINATOR – Works closely with his/her team of home visitors to ensure the RSPCA rehoming policy is carried out.
Prior to any animal leaving the boarding establishment the prospective adopters are visited in their own homes to ensure their suitability for the type of animal concerned. Any concerns that the adopters may have are also fully discussed.
KENNEL LIAISON - works closely with Inspectors, Animal Collection Officers and the private boarding kennels caring for branch dogs prior to adoption. Post holder Bonnie
CATTERY LIAISON - works closely with Inspectors, Animal Collection Officers and the private cattery caring for branch cats prior to adoption.
HOME VISITORS - Home Visiting Volunteers are responsible to the Home Check Co-ordinators. They visit the prospective animal adopters in their own homes to ensure suitability.
Qualities needed are a calm confident manner, to be able to get along with people and to have some knowledge of caring for animals. We are always looking for volunteers to join our team. Full training given to home checkers.
VOLUNTEER MICRO-CHIP OPERATIVES
The branch ensures all animals are micro-chipped prior to leaving the boarding kennels/cattery. A small group of volunteers have been trained by the RSPCA to insert the microchips, operate the micro-chip reader and to register the new owners. We hope to expand the team to offer micro-chipping to the general public in order to raise funds for the branch.
FOSTERERS
(usually puppies and/or kittens)
The branch urgently needs dedicated animal carers who would be prepared to foster very young animals prior to adoption. This will not involve any personal expense but will most probably involve sleepless nights.
DRIVERS
(with own vehicle)
Could you spare an occasional hour to transport sick animals to a veterinary surgeon from the boarding kennels we use? Ideally, someone who is available during the day is needed. All mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
